  2. Economics Vocabulary Technology Integration Lesson
Review all parts of Standard 2 and Performance Indicators 3a and 4b, and working in the collaborative environment you selected last session, create a document, chart, or diagram about how the lesson you are modifying or creating will use digital tools and resources to address a variety of learning styles, work strategies, abilities, and developmental levels following the directions below.
    • Select four students with diverse needs, your coach can provide examples if needed.
    • Describe each student in terms of learning style, work strategies, abilities and developmental level.
    • Describe modifications you are making to the lesson you are creating which will meet the needs of each of these students.

Student 1: Gifted, very verbal with complex reasoning skills. “Cindy” likes to read and research information on the computer. She is best when working out an assignment logically. Her skills include listening, speaking, writing, story telling, explaining, and teaching.
Student 2: Academically Average, tactile learner, who like to work things out with concrete examples and manipulatives. Slightly weak in computation skills, especially ones that require memorization. “Brandon” is very social and likes to be the center of attention. He works best when given specific instructions on what to accomplish,
Student 3: Also academically average, but low on social skills and maturity. “Jake” does not get along well with others in the class. He is very kinesthetic and likes anything that involves sports or games. He has a good sense of balance and hand-eye coordination. He is a his best when when alone and at the computer.
Student 4: Academically below grade level in reading fluency and comprehension. “Grace” is a visual learner who is artistic and creative. She enjoys using manipulatives for math assignments and loves to write and illustrate stories (though grammatically incorrect).
The lesson on Third Grade Economics Vocabulary was created to fit all learning styles described above. All students are required to create a final project with specific criteria, however, several choices are allowed to fit each students’ needs. My gifted student will be allowed to use the more advanced site Zunal to create a webquest or iMovie to put together a movie that would display her understanding of the economics vocabulary. For my low reader, there is a website that has short videos that not only tells what each vocabulary word is but also gives examples for each. This should help her know what to search for when using the clipart sites. Creating the Keynote (or Powerpoint) will appeal to her artistic and creative side. The internet site that allows the usage of the Promethean board to sort “real world” pictures into categories should appeal to my kinesthetic learner. I think he will also enjoy finding his own images to put into his presentation. I think that my solidly average student will enjoy most of the tasks. He will definitely like to present his project to the class. He also enjoys anything that has to do with technology, so I think he will do well with this assignment. All in all, I believe that this plan with accommodate all of the diverse learners in the classroom.
